This seems to be a rather strange way of describing what is tantamount to a civil war raging in that country! It occurs to me that this statement is somewhat of an understatement of what is actually going on. I would think that such a highly competent, highly educated and supposedly brilliant public servant would have a more realistic view and assessment of the actual situation.

You step into an office after a medical exam, "What have I got, doctor?"

The doctor plays little doodle games on a note pad, then smiles, slaps you gladly on the back and says, "You're going to die, idiot. A long, slow, excruciatingly painful death. And you know what I'm going to do about it? Pausing for effect, the doctor almost giddily bursts out, "Because we're not going to do a darn thing about it!"

Would that work better?

I suspect a careful, measured effort, such as what is happening, plus the element of hope--take the medicine and rest (stopping this violence and get back to your lives), then all can live better together. Our Secretary of State is more illustrious than you imagine and she is doing far, far more than your little mind can appreciate. Give her a break and do something useful, like argue about baseball or something.

Okay, but what about Iraq????

And do you think she is publicly going to speak against her boss??? Why do you think Colin Powell resigned? He didn't agree with policy coming around.

The government we have doesn't understand that most of the countries in the Middle East are "ruled" by religion. They don't want or desire a "democratic" government because their religion plays a very major part in the way they run their lives and countries, unlike our country. It was something someone might have wanted to think about before going into the country and trying to change the way they ran their country. I mean, I think Sadam should not be in power, and should pay for his crimes. But why go further and change the entire structure of their government? Hello - even my 1 year old daughter can see Civil War out of that one. . .

Politicians have a hard time being perfectly clear. It is not their nature to describe things as they are. Clarity is as foreign to them as no taxes. Here's a good example: In order to see the message the politicians want to send to their friends; the friends have to be airborne and know where to look. If you have Google map, you can visit this site. If not click here.
