I have a Dell latitude D500 which crashed sometime back. The problem is that now when I turn it on, the caps lock light flashes 10 times, there is no display and the laptop shuts down. I tried seraching for this and found this

I tried the solutions given on that link but it didnt help.
I had 2 questions:
1) Has anyone faced the same problem and has a solution u think might work?
2) If not, does anyone know of a reliable place where I can get it repaired (Out of warranty, so Dell is out of question as they are too expensive). I would prefer a shop in the bay area though a reliable online retailer would be OK too..
Thanks

Pull the bezel off. the piece of plastic between the keyboard and the screen. There should be a little notch on the right side of the laptop. Use a flat head to pry it up. Donty worry the bezel is flexible. There are 2 screws that hold the keyboard in. Remove those 2 screws and you will see the connection to the screen. Small rectangle shaped connection, about an inch long. has a little black pull tab on it. Make sure that it is seated. Also check to see if any of the wiring is not broken. Try and boot into safe mode. Press F8 when you see the Dell spalsh screen. and see if the screen comes up and the machine boots to windows.

few things that you can do, try to boot in bios, if everything is ok, try to format your computer, your OS might be corrupted, if your problem is hardware problem try to change the Memory, if it isnt the memory, then your comp is gone :)

without understanding what percentage beeps, the most probably motives (in this order of danger) are... RAM (memory) failing. images failing. hardchronic failing. Motherboard failing. Please submit decrease back with top huge style and timing of beeps ?
