If it could be ensured that the seculsion of children is safeguarded they can be quite safe. We need not worry about leaving them alone because Children have their own ways of adjusting to it. But the times are such that leaving alone anybody whether it is an old man or any other cannot be said to be safe. Recently an entire f amily of seven was routed by a close relative freauently visiting them and that too because he was impressed by a picture where the villain had done this job quite cleanly. The question of children is still complicated and it is better they are not left alone.

No, even in small towns you cannot be as carefree as we once could be. I am fortunate to live on many acres, and the boys can romp and play at will. But if we were anywhere near other homes, or nearer the city, I would be so much more cautious. I have raised 3 sons to become husbands and fathers, and I have three young ones still at home. None of them can believe that we used to sleep with the windows open and our doors unlocked. sigh...such memories.

in short NO they are too ionnocent and trusting ,dont ever leave them alone, never there are too many sickos out there now. What ever happened to the laws that protected us and our kids? why are paedophiles allowed back out on the streets ?once caught they should never see the light of day never never never. these do gooders allowing them rights . the only people that should be allowed rights are the ones who obey the laws and are not morally or socially deviant . these people cannot be rehabilated and will deffinitely reoffend, they in my opinion be put to death.
What goes on between consenting adults is their own buisness, touch a child you die. Simple really isnt it

It's sad to say but, NO!!! I wished I was raising my family in the 1950's. I know I would not have air conditioning and things like that, but I much rather live safer and not have to worry about kidnappings, molestings, killings, etc. I would love to send my kids outside until dinner is ready but obviously that is not even an option!!!

Not in public. At home as long as they aren't too young they can be fairly safe if you teach them right. Caller ID is a great tool. I have one that I can program with the names of who is calling and it actually speaks them. My kid knows to only answer the phone if it's a name spoken aloud.
