How can people be so naive about the facts of Marijuana?

*If anyone doesn't believe any one of these facts, challenge me, and I'll site my sources.*

-Marijuana does not kill brain cells, when smoked properly. Holding your breath for long periods of time kills brain cells.

-The only known health problems related to smoking Marijuana are respiratory diseases (as with any smoke), and injury due to impairment. Basically, if you use it responsibly, you won't die, and neither will anybody else

-Marijuana doesn't cause birth defects, or sterility.

-Marijuana is not physically addictive, it's all mental.

-Marijuana doesn't cause chromosome damage.

-The effects of Marijuana do not linger for days and weeks.

-No one has died from Marijuana itself. This does not mean that irresponsible users haven't died behind the wheel while influenced.

LadyRebecca, I admit you are right. You've got to admit it is extremely rare, though.

Bluealt, that is why I am giving people the facts; so they can be more responsible. Do you think I enjoy hearing about irresponsible users getting hurt, or dieing behind the wheel?

Ruchjat K, this may shock you so read it slowly. Not all of us believe in god, or any other invisible being that supposedly made all of us.
Rich, are you suggesting that people who smoke marijuana are lazy and don't care enough to help the starving children of the world? Hmm, just because you got lazy from smoking it, doesn't mean everyone is. I want you to site some real, scientific evidence from more than one source stating for a fact that if you smoke marijuana, you are going to stop caring about the starving children because you are too lazy. Just because you smoke it, doesn't mean you are high all the time. Ah, but you could prove me wrong by siting a few sources other than yourself.

I smoked marijuana for 25 years, and I speak from experience here.
Marijuana may or may not be harmful to your physical health, but it certainly deadens your desire to be a success.It is definitely addictive on an emotional level.You will find yourself watching the clock at work,praying for quitting time so you can fire one up.
Once you finally get high,everything else seems to not matter quite as much.You just sit there, sometimes having an absolutely brilliant line of thought ( or so it seems ) and the next minute you can't remember what that spark of genius was .
Honestly, instead of wasting your time and hard earned money on weed, invest your time into something worthwhile.
Looking back on my life, I truly wish that I had never smoked marijuana.
Whether its harmless or not,using a drug to alter your perception of reality is a sign of weak character.
One last thing.
You seem to brush off Respiratory Disease as if having it would be a walk in the park.Having lost my mother in law to lung cancer last year, I can tell you that it is a horrible,painful way to die.It is also very expensive to spend weeks in intensive care,and it drains the survivors as well.

**Special to aussieblonde...If marijuana were legalized the big tobacco companies would most certainly have the tools to crank it out by the pack.It would be taxed just like tobacco products and have really cool packaging to appeal to the masses.

People are trusting the government to be right about everything, and that is a big mistake. Every study I have ever read saying marijuana is dangerous was rigged to get that result. Something like taking the trace elements of poison in fresh leaves, injecting enough of that (syntheticly reproduced) to kill 20 people into 1 rat, and saying that means marijuana is deadly. In order to get the percentages that are deadly, you would have to smoke something like 2000 lbs of it every hour for two years.

And lets not forget the medicinal and spiritual uses. Marijuana is safer and more effective than most OTC pain killers, and it can been shown to be effective in the treatment of dozens of diseases. But becuase the government is full of uptight Christain money mongers, and they make more money off of keeping it illegeal, they will keep it that way.

The USA could, in fact, buy out entire crops of marijuana from Central American countries, then control its sale and distribution, and make just as much money. Plus, it would put all the shady dealers out of business and out of police hair, the police could focus thier efforts elsewhere. And it would help out forgein governments and facilitate LEGAL trade. By MONITORING distibution and giving the right education to those who purchase, the government could save lives. But they wont, because they dont give a rat's a$$. They want the cash the easiest, fastest way to get it.

Ok you have made some great points> but think about this one and its argument enough for me . The body produces natural chemicals that get a person high. If they are replaced by another chemical the body will stop making the natural one and the body relies on the fake one. This is just a fact. People who smoke pot for a long time hurt themeselves becaue it makes people lazy lazy people dont go out and feed hungry kids. The sit on the couch. Feeding hungry kids or helping out homelss people or alot of other things are what get people HIGH, REAL HIGH not fake high.Getting fake high hurts human growth human growth depnds on growing UP. if pot head voted it would be legal but they always seem to forget to do it.
I dont think it should be illegal. But tell the whole truth.

I think in line with islamic teaching all kind of drinks and used materials that can be a negative effect to our health,are forbidden
Respiratory disease come by marijuana smoking as you sad above and tobacco smoking will impair your health are not allowed for muslims.It is called makruh or haram or objection-
able,illegitimate or bastard..It is better we avoid it due to our health and our wasting money.God hates something that harm your body and wasting our money.Muslims should earn their income legitimately and spend it in a good manner beneficially for their families and others such as for alms .Income or subsistence or livelihood is given by our God Almighty.,should be used in line with islamic teaching.Smoking and drinking is not allowed not only if it will cause someone to die but also get drunk
and wasting our money are prohibited.If we have drunk we can not pray on the right time and can harm other people because he/she lost his/her consciousness.If he has no enough money for drinking he will steal other's money or anything which can be sold.

I don't think anyone is disputing those facts - I'm certainly not.......however, what has been proven is that in some users psychosis is un unwelcome effect of the use of marijuana.

you are right but so is aussiegirl or something like that if the good ol' government can't make no money on it legally why would they legalize it.With it illegal they get to write tickets and collect bonds and court cost.It being illegal is a lot of money for the government.
