Here's how I broke it down:
1.) 24 hrs in a day x 60 minutes in an hour x 60 seconds in a minute x $1
=$86,400 a day
2.) 1,000,000,000 divided by $86,400
= about 11,574.074 (repeating) days needed to reach one billion dollars
3.) divide 11,574.074 by 365.25 days in a year
= about 31.688... years.

Or, if you need it in months and years, you can do this, but it's a bit off b/c of some months having a day more than others...
Start at #2 above
1.) 11,574.074 days divided by ca. 30.5 days in a month
= about 379.47783... months
2.) 379.47783 months divided by 12 months in a year
= 31 years, 7 months and a few days, hours and seconds.
- you can break it down and figure out how many days too, hours, minutes and seconds for that matter, but I'd think I'll call it a night :)

24 hours/day 60 min in hour 60 sec in min 60*60*24 = 86400 = sec/$ in a day. 86400 * 365.25 = 31,557,600 = $1 spent in a year.
if you multiply that by 32 you get 1,009,843,200 it is 9 million over.
32 = years. and if multiply by 31 = 978,285,600 now is 21,714,400 less. Now you know that it is 31 years and few months so the number you multiply is a decimal number with lots of digits my opinion is that it will take a person for ever to find the exact decimal number. The farther I will go to answer you question is there. Thanx for your chanellege. MY ANSWER IS 32 you get 1,009,843,200 it is 9 million over.

I will not give you the exact number, but I will give you some other numbers which should help you figure this out for yourself.

24 hours in a day
60 minutes in an hour
60 seconds in a minute

The rest is up to you and your calculator.
