Depends if you have a/c or not---heater core would be in the a/c or heater ductwork behind the dash....there should be two heater hoses going to it on the engine side of the firewall which will show you approximately where it is located behind the dash. You can remove those two hoses from the heater core fittings and connect them together with a short piece of pipe and hose clamps but one hose is slightly larger than the other---1/2 inch and 3/4 inch diameter---or you can remove them entirely and run a replacement hose from where one hose attaches to the engine to the other fitting for the other hose to the engine using a piece of hose that is the larger diameter of the two and just clamp it real good and bypass the heater core altogether if it's too expensive to fix temporarily.---it does not help cool the engine normally, it's just there to provide engine heat to the passenger compartment.

The hardest part is getting to the lines behind the engine. A good knife fixes that. the heater core is simple to remove and only takes an hour to 90 min. to replace. I would say...given the average rate for labor it would cost around 60 to 100 bucks. Good luck.

$225 labor would be about normal

Of course you can just have the heater core bypassed now until winter......

the labor is what'll get you, total time would probably be 4-5 hours book time.
the part would be $50.
I'd probably say $275 for labor.
