Far from it. Even though the present course has us believing that the diversity of life on earth as we know it is being destroyed, paleontology has shown us that destruction and mass extinction of this kind has happened before, with the consequence of creating a new diversity of species from the survivors. So with that said, I personally believe that the past has shown us that life on Earth will continue regardless of the "damage" that is done to the environment, even if it is only cockroaches and desert grass. It would take a massive change in temperature caused by a supernova (from the sun or a nearby star) or the growth of the sun due to its natural life cycle to completely "end" the Earth. How's that for an answer without the use of some BS scriptures?

Shouldn't this question be in the religious section???
Geologically, the guess would be no.
Environmentally, well that's long story, but to keep it short: no one really knows. Scientists are predicting that should global climate change continue on the path which it has begun, we could experience a far different earth from the one we know. But the end of the world? More than likely, no.

as darefooter said, the world might b close to an end for humans....hopefully not, but the planet earth will go on even so. The survivors of watever happens will grow into a new dominant species of earth. Think of dinasaurs and how they got destroyed, and a new species of mamals became the dominant force on earth. I suspect insects will probably b dominant after us, seeing as how they reproduce in large numbers and it would b almost impossible to kill all the insects of the earth. If you've seen Starship Troopers, it might b kinda like that.

I think that the world's ratings have been plummetting ever since the OJ verdict came in. I can't see it being renewed for another season, but it should last quite a while in syndication.

Pat Robertson seems to think so.
If you are really concerned and want to be prepared check out raptureready.com. You may find it informative and insightful but most likely humorous.

If you ask a scientist, no. If you ask a spiritual person, yes. If you ask me, who cares! Why worry about what you can't prevent!?
