It deals with the early years of Kirk & Spock at Star-fleet Academy, new actors replace Shatner & Nimoy. Who would play them? Any ideas? Their voice would have to be the key element and maybe even a look=a=like. Think its a good idea?

I should have said, pre-production as they are looking for the actors and getting everything lined up to begin filming.

Stupid idea.

Hayden Christiansen as Kirk
Derek Richardson as Spock

though the idea is still stupid.

Go forward not back.

This is an idea that Paramount has been trying to get off the ground for close to 20 years!

Personally, I think it's a LAME idea. They should just allow the legendary characters of Kirk and Spock to remain associated with the original actors.

There's such a huge Star Trek universe to draw on now, from Next Generation to DS9 to Voyager to Enterprise...there are plenty of characters to work with, or they could even create new ones. Why recycle the past, and dilute the legend?

Doing a prequel is a stupid idea. Did they not remember what happened to Enterprise the series? I think they should focus a movie more on the next generation but in the early years around seasons 2-4. If they do a 2 hour long episode with a good battle, some neat effects, and a mysterious part of the galaxy, it could rock.

I don't think i am going to go see this new one in the theaters. I will wait for DVD

I must agree with GOD--to remake the original idea is to recycle something that should remain intact. Hollywood has become very apt at recycling ideas that have been brought up before and turning them into big time special effect extravaganzas. I would prefer the heart of Star Trek to continue beating and all the computer effects be sent back to the Lucas Home for Unwanted Computer Animation.
