Both Outfielders came up through the New York system. Juan Rivera has 19 homers for the Angels, and Marcus Thames has 21 for the Tigers.

My guess is that while they probably wish they had young, cheap, talented players, the Yankees are a short-term visioned organization. They want to win now, and they don't really care about the long term issue. As long as they're in a pennant race, they'll trade their minor league talent for major league sure-thing players. For every Juan Rivera and Marcus Thames that they trade away, they've given away plenty of no-name prospects that amounted to nothing, and look at their lineup. It doesn't look like they're short on talent.

I'm glad the yankees gave up on Marcus Thames.

He's been absolutely incredible. And one of the many many reason The Tigers are 40 games OVER .500!
