be yourself and be a friend. be honest. basically treat your friends as you would like them to treat you. you keep them by letting your friendship grow...sometimes you have to forgive or let go or help out more than your share because they are in serious crap and need you or vice versa...however you can't keep them if they don't want to be friends anymore
