A tank, gravel, under gravel filter, air pump, aerator, heater, plants, hood with a light. Most pet stores sell as a complete kit. Buy the largest tank you can afford. Wash the gravel thoroughly, put filter in bottom of tank, and cover with gravel. Fill with water, and add de-chlor drops, and install the heater. Let tank sit for at least 3 days, and keep adjusting heater until you maintain a steady 80 degrees F. Once tank has stabilized, buy the fish. Give the fish time to adjust to the new water. pour some water out of the bag, and add some from the tank. After a day, add more tank water. Leave the top of the bag open to allow air in. Put the fish in the tank, and feed. Dry food is most convenient, but your fish will have a banquet on live brine shrimp. Keep unused shrimp in the fridge. Enjoy.

go to a fish store and buy a fish filter that matches the size or ur tank. you will also need something to get air into the water. you should buy an air pump. and u also need a water heater to keep the water at the right temperature. then u will need water conditioners so that you can take out the clorine in the water sdo the fishes will survive. the last thing u will need is a light for the fishes. after a couple of months u should get a water tester kit. so u can test the water for amonia level and pollution. oh almost forgot. fishes need food.

I take it you want to know from scratch what to buy, well here goes:::
Undergravel filters, coarse sea salt, corner filters, gravel, sand , filter wool, carbon, pump, piping, heater, plants, fish, but wait with the fish get your tank set up before you buy them.
Take the measure of your tank with when buying the undergravel filters so that you buy the correct size filters.
You can buy two pumps with double outlets so that you have enough filtration in your tank.
Set up your tank until you are satisfied with what it looks like, then pour the water in but place a bowl in the tank and pour the water in it so as to not upset the tank. Switch on you pumps and start filtering the water, leave to filter for 24 hours then you can go and collect your fish. Once you have placed your fish in the tank, sprinkle the coarse sea salt al over the fish in the tank, you will find the fish will swim through the salt. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TOP FEEDERS, MIDDEL FEEDERS AND BOTTOM FEEDERS.
This will ensure hardly any food gets wasted.
