My wife has expressed an interest in something she has read about called the Around Her Finger movement...where woman accept the role of head of household and men more or less follow their leadership. Is this common? Has anyone ever heard of it? Emily Addison is supposed to be the woman that came up with, or rather popularized, the idea. Anyone ever heard of her? I'm intrigued. It appeals to me for some almost primal reason, but I'm nervous about giving up control.

This is why no marriages last anymore. Hire a maid instead.

yes i have heard of it i think all women have. you can put her in controll but still make sure that eachother knows that decisions still need to take two people, it is only fiar that who ever it is leading the house hold still brings up all issues to the other person so that a MUTUAL decision can be made. you are still saposed to work together, she would just be the one that pays the bill instead of you haveing to go threw them everymonth. i think that it is a good idea that you two can switch once in a while and that way the other person can have some more time on thier hands.i would not make it a permanent thing that she is always in charge, it should be something that you can still do to after a while. after all alot of men feel the need to be the head of the house cause that is how it has always been. but i say it is good for her to experience it cause if anything should happen one day to you she will not feel so lost on what things need to be done and how, ya know the things you always took care of. take this opportunity to teach her how to do it properly without leaving you out of things but her still being able to take on more responsibility. good luck, sit and talk about it with her first on some ground rules of things that cant change so you dont feel like you dont have a say so in things.

I dare suggest most women lead the marriage already, as they handle the day-to-day affairs, manage the household budget, shop for necessities, and are in charge of the children the majority of the time. Why do women need a "movement" to put them into the leadership position? Maybe I am too old-fashioned, but I say keep things they way they are.

There are probably a lot of marriages like that. But maybe not by choice. Sometimes the man just lets the woman run the household I think lol.

Though the bible says the man is the head of his household. and it also say the head of man is Jesus. Love alone can make the union of man and wife easier, with each doing their best to make the marriage work.

I was in a marriage with a very controlling husband, it is my belief that a marriage should not be about contol, it should be about bonding together as one to create a united front.

It won't work... unless you are a wimp. You should live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman. However, you should treat her a equal!
