It is only brutal if you don't know how to play. If everyone plays their position right and all of the team plays as a team then no it isn't brutal. Tell your mom from me, my daughter played high school football as a lineman and her team mates did their job as well as she did and everyone ended the season safe and sound. Sure expect to get scrapes and bruises but hey that is just part of the game. As you play it will become a little more harsh but your skills would have advanced too. It all pretty much evens itself out.Good Luck!

I just guess your mom is just going to have to grit here teeth, grin and bare it...
Did you see the pre-season game last night... running back Bruce Perry of the Eagles got blasted and lost all feeling in his arms and legs for about 3 minutes or so... but he's going to be fine. Any sport were you have physical contact is dangerous.
Those things are going to happen. But you can't go out there thinking about that, just play the game. You'll be alright. I've been playing football for 11 years now (since I was 10 years old) and I have never been hurt (knock on wood !!!). So you just never know.

You never know what can happen. We had a great middle linebacker in high school. Everything was going his way and he was being recruited by several major colleges.
I was at the game when the opponents tried a simple rush up the middle. Our middle linebacker came up and made the tackle; it looked like a routine play. He lay on the field for about 25 minutes before they hauled him away. We found out later that he was to be a quadriplegic for the rest of his life.
Odds are, you won't experience a life-changing injury if you play. But even better odds suggest that you can play basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis, etc... without such an injury.

You can get injured playing any sport. Boxers have been known to die in the ring; that is brutal. If you can find it, have your Mom watch Australian Football, now that is brutal.

first off football is the best sport
secondly most injuries arent that major
most of time u get hyperextended fingers or jammed fingers or pulled muscles which hurt but dont really do damage to take u out of the game
theres also the occasional finger but most players play thru middle school/junior high and high school without getting hurt at all
