Tree frogs belong to family Hylidae, and their tadpoles have special mouthparts (called oral disc) for feeding. This disc has tiny keratinous denticles and a keratinous "beak" at their mouth, with which they scrape plant material.
They feed primarily on the leaves and softer tissues of aquatic plants and they scrape algae and detritus from the surface of rocks and other underwater objects. These detritus may contain animal matter, but the tadpoles are primarily herbivorous.
If you are planning to keep and raise tadpoles, you can use boiled leafy vegetables (such as boiled lettuce leaves) that you put in the water bowl. Don't overfeed them, because the plant tissues will rot and pollute the water.
This special oral disc will disappear during their metamorphosis, and gradually their digestive system will transform to become more adequate for the live prey that they'll eat as adults.

They start out eating grasses and such. I don't remember what they eat after that, but their diet changes as they mature. Once mine ate their tales, I let them go. I just wanted to watch them grow. Be careful of temperature also.

Insects that come too close to the water or that swim in the water, and microorganisms. They have also been known to turn to cannabalism(eating your own species).
