Girl, don't believe everything you hear. The only boobs that don't sag are the ones with implants and Barbie's boobs.

If you wear a (non underwire) bra to sleep in, it will help prevent sagging down the road...the idea being that you'll also wear some style of bra during the day and thus your breasts are supported 24 hrs basically (except when you shower) so they are less likely to develop sag or droop...
However, if you gain a good bit of weight, and then lose it, you're likely to experience sag even though you've always worn a bra, simply because the breast skin gets stretched out when you're fat, but doesn't contract when you lose the fat, so the skin is only partially full, so you will experience some sag/droop...
If you have very large breasts (anything C up or larger) don't go without a bra often as that will encourage sag, unless you're wearing a top or clothing item with a lot of support itself...
The old rule of thumb was that if you could put a pencil under your breast and it would stay there, your breasts were too saggy to go w/o a bra...

I spent most of my childhood in the "far" north, and always wore an undershirt mainly for warmth. When puberty hit, it felt weird enough that my stomach wasn't covered by the most under-layer anymore, and I felt outright naked if I took my bra off. Then I went to boarding school, and felt exposed if I didn't have a bra on under my night shirts or night gowns. It wasn't until college I discovered it's much more comfortable to sleep without a bra, so I haven't been sleeping with a bra on since then. As for the "myth", I'm sure it's not true, although it still makes sense if they are left unsupported and the skin on your upper chest stretches after a while. But while you're lying down, I'm sure it doesn't matter.

I do not wear a bra to bed . . . now. But when I was nursing I did. The theory goes that the tissue that supports your breasts is able to stretch, but short of surgery, there is no way to shrink it back up. So, while I was breastfeeding and they were huge, I slept in a bra for an entire year (NOT an underwire). I have to say that after nursing two kids, my breasts are just about where they were before. I don't know if it was the bras, but the way I look at it - better safe than sorry.

It is an absolutely great idea to wear a bra at all times. Any time you let those babies free is a chance for them to sag. If a "regular" bra is uncomfortable try a sports bra. Works for me!

I am not a woman, but as a biologist I can tell you that any practice that prevents stretching of the skin will help prevent sagging later in life. It is up to you if you wish to give up the comfort of being unencumbered.
