well in pittsburg its illegal to sleep ontop of a refridgearator could someone explain to me why that is illegal

Same reason it is illegal to whistle underwater in a small town in Oregon. Someone a long time ago made laws that have just not been cleared off the books, if you point it out to lawmakers they will either ammend it or just remove it.

There was probably a strong lobbying effort funded by the American Mattress Association which endeavored to keep people from sleeping atop refrigerators so that the mattress retailers could sell more mattresses. They probably made campaign bribes (excuse me, contributions) to a Pittsburgh politician who agreed to get the resolution passed into law. It seems unrealistic to assume that this law was passed in the interests of public safety or public interest. Some skanky politician got rich once he got that law on the books. -RKO-
