I just barely passed my history class last year and I'm going to be taking 2 history classes this year! I really need some advice on how to study history efficiently. Just reading the chapter isn't enough for me---I need a method that will truly help me remember all the people, places and events. Anyone have suggestions?

the best way to remember is to write down these 5 questions...
1. who (is, are, they talking about)
2. what ( happpened, did ,ect.)
3.when ( dates, times, )
4.where ( places)
5. how ( how they did it,by what methods)
and always remember the conclusion of the story, and the benefits or tragity that came from it. simple but to the point.

I love history! (fav subject) I find if I write out the facts etc. in a way that I organized they are much easier to remember. Also, find books at the library (historic fiction) etc. because the more you read about a certain time the easier you will remember. Fu n facts and stuff! Study partners are also good. Ask your teacher if they have any ideas, (they usually are thrilled when students are actually interested!) Good Luck

get some index cards and write the questions thats going to be on the test or write the question you think are going to be on the test. (You have to think like a teacher.) Then write the answers on the back. Study the index cards every night for 15 minutes. If you do just that you should pass every history test.

Humans are story tellers, and history is really just our story. But the best stories (and the ones we most remember) are always about people. The problem with many textbooks is that they neglect the people.

So instead of trying to memorize a bunch of facts, think about it as a story, and maybe even a story from the perspective of one or two essential people. The facts will follow.

flash cards, create little sayings of something to help you remember like the phrase "in 1492 Columbus sail the ocean blew." A little rhyming thing to help remember a fact. or word association like you learned the planets "my very educated mother jsut served us nine pizzas" or "please excuse my dear aunt sally" for math.
