If a person has joint ownership of a home, can the government take the house in case of a default?
Both people are disabled, and living on SSI.

I don't think so. They would just garnish wages, or keep any income taxes you would receive until payment is made. Collecting SSI, they would be able to garnish that check, taking some of that money. Call your bank and speak to a financial advisor there. They will answer any questions you might have on the issue.
