There is way too much American bashing on this site.

The USA is a very compassionate and giving country. We help anyone who needs our help. We don't like tyranny and oppression and we try to help those in countries where this is happening.

You do not see Americans bashing all of you as much as you do us. We don't need to be thanked for everything we do for the world, but we sure as heck don't need your constant bashing of us either.

By the way - you're welcome - in spite of all your ill-will for us - we'll be there to help your sorry butt when you need us.

The world would probably enjoy a little more communal prosperity since - right now - the U.S.A. represents only 5% of the entire global population, but uses 55% of the world's resources.
Perhaps the rest of the world wouldn't be so greedy, and might work out ways to share the world's wealth more equally.
Plus, maybe so many other nations wouldn't be so damn scared of being bullied by the new 'evil empire' - the United States of America under the Bush mismanagement. Perhaps they'd stop thinking their only defense against the bully Bush would be their own nuclear weapons of mass destruction.

The US would have to be replaced immediately. As the US is the largest customer of other countries, if the US disappeared there would be massive unemployment and economic depression in Europe. The Middle-East would bankrupt as well with no demand for oil which is there only export. As an American I don't think the US is IT, but it wouldn't hurt other countries to treat us like a customer, because that's what we are.

One could speculate that the world would be better, or worse off, but realistically, it would probably be the same, just run by someone else...

Would we still have a super-culture suppressing the individuality of all other cultures?

Would we still have a singular power dictating to other nations, behaving hypocritically and using up far more than their share of resources?

Would there still be people who are in poverty, lacking in education, and fighting in wars they don't believe in?

A quick consideration of history suggests that the answer to these questions is yes.

Yes the US does use a lot of resources. Where do we get those resources? Not in the US. If the US just disappeared. A LOT of people would go out of business. A lot of people that had someone to be scared of wouldn't have to be scared anymore and a lot of people would be killed.

Let's see.....how about the 5 BILLion that the US is giving to Africa to fight AIDS......That wouldn't exist. A lot of people would die. I'm not saying that the world would go to complete **** but damn.....there would be a lot of lives lost and a lot of people going under. The only reason that we use resources is because we can afford it. We can afford to keep a business man in Germany alive and his family fed. The list goes on.

Find the U.S. in a different incarnation. China seems a likely candidate.

There would be more peace than there is right now. And everyone would be happier off without us invading others and suck them dry and then telling them that we are doing it for their own good.
