My husband who I love very much. says that forsake all others means to forget about all your family and friends. And that the only people that matter any more, are husband and wife. I on the other hand say that it means to only have each other, and nobody else, not even to look at the opposite sex. ( which I don'tmind him looking, because his late wife would not have let him,but I do because I know he's going home with me!) Please help me with this. it is tearing us apart. And I really love him and hope that this will resolve our problem. thank you for your help.

basically it means to put each other first not to give up your families. To love each other completely and honestly without pretense

When married..You are husband and wife you are suppose to be one, dwell as one . Forsaking others to include mother and father, uncling from them, put your spouse before others. What your husband is talking about is scripture..and he's right.

However, there are many that take a scripture from the bible and make up their own interpretation... Is your husband saying this because you chose to put your family and others before him, or could he be saying this because he's a controlling and jealous individual?

To forsake all others means to be true to the one you are married to. To only have sex with them and only them, forsaking all others. It is natural for men to look at other women. They are human and as long as he has given you no reason not to trust him, then you should.

In a sense you are both right. It simply means to put no one else before the other and to be true to the one you are marrying. To him that means family and friends and all it means with them is to put your spouse above them. You feel it is about infedelity which is also true. Tell him that you are both right and respect each others belief on it.

it means different things to everyone..
to me it means, let no one come between you and your spouse,if that means you have to turn your back on people,so be it.
it also means NO hanky panky with anyone else,no kissin,no sex,NOTHING!
Everyone pretty much looks at other people.but if you know your mate doesnt approve of it,dont do it! its become a running joke between me and hubby,we'll say something like Oh isnt she hot.sometimes we will be serious, sometimes its a joke and the person is ICKKY,sorry ickky people...
lol
just take your spouses feelings into consideration, and respect them!as long as you both do that...should be pretty good!

To put you first before all others. To be considerate of your feelings before all others. If he is looking while holding your hand, that is disrespectful. He might as well tell you your not good enough!

"forsake all others" = don't have sex with anyone else but each other.
