May I answer for my girlfriend?

Her 30 year old son was in a motorcycle accident in March. He almost died. He was in a coma for almost two months, and nobody knew if he would ever come out of it, nor what his condition would be afterwards if he did.

In May, he woke up. The first cohesive thing he said to his mother was on Mothers' Day. He said: "Happy Mothers' Day, Mom"

He's been home since the end of June, now, and continues to do quite well.

In 3rd grade I received a train set in a Xmas gift exchange from a classmate named Stephen. Stephen was a boy who was badly burned about the face and hands. I still remember him today, and wonder how he's doing. I set it up around our family tree, & everyone in my family really enjoyed it. This was in 1973, and while I've receive many wonderful gifts since then, some much more expensive, that train will always be a memory that brings a smile to my face.

For Valentine's Day, I thought my boyfriend would do the ordinary "chocolate and flowers." I opened the gift, and there was chocolate (I won't lie.) and a cute stuffed dog that said "love" on it. Then I looked in the bottom of the bag and there was a guitar pick. It was the first guitar pick he ever got, and it was the one he used to learn his first song. It was sweet because he thought beyond what most guys do. It was so simple, but I loved it. I still have it now.

This is gonna sound corny as hell, but its true.
When my daughter was 9 yrs old,she heard me complain after coming out of the garden of how the wind& the rain had kept knocking down my tomatoe plants(stakes and all).Of course my being hot, sweaty,&dirty made my complaint more valid in her eyes. After dinner she dissappeared into her room only to re-appear with her solution to my problem. She took a pickle jar and filled it with a 1/2 skane of yarn along with perhaps 100 5-6" long strips she cut with scissors. On the front she taped paper onto the jar and wrote "Daddy, for your tomatoes" on it and surrounded it with pink hearts colored in crayon.

There were two, actually. One happened the day after Christmas in 2001 and the other three weeks after my birthday in 2003. These gifts were my two beautiful boys.
