They usually have two testicles it is just that just before or after birth when the testicles are supposed to drop down from the abdomen into the scrotum one gets stuck or lost in the abdominal cavity. The doctor should check the infant boy for the first year. If it does not drop down then the boy should be operated on while still an infant and the doctor should find the lost testicle and place it into the scrotum. While an infant that is not a problem and the boy will mature and grow normally. If that is not done until the boy is 11 or 12 then the boy will suffer all kinds of emotional trauma having only one ball and being different from the other boys. Also, the surgery is more traumatic at that age. If the testicle is not brought down then it becomes a site for cancer in middle age. If the lost testicle is malformed or so under developed that it can't be brought down then the doctor can place an artificial testicle of the right weight and size into the boys scrotum when he reaches adult hood. The one good testicle will produce all the testosterone the boy will need to develop normally and to insure he will have a normal sex drive. It will also produce more than enough sperm to insure that he can fertilize his wife.
