A question for a question. What do you mean by he is ugly?
It's sounds much to me that, you are starting to get judgmental, and cannot see passed his so called ugliness and really want out of this relationship.
There must be very few really ugly people in the world if you think about it as beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
But maybe we are missing something here your best friend could be a Bull Mastif or of that ilke.

How the heck should we know? It is your love and your friend. You need to figure it out.
I have friends but I don't spend any time thinking about how ugly these dudes are, maybe that is just me but for my male friends, thoughts of their looks never cross my mind. But I'm not sure I'd be able to pick out an ugly dude from a non-ugly dude.
Anyway, it is great that you love your ugly friend and everything. Congrats on all that and the best of luck to you two.

Because you got to know the real him. When it comes to friendship we look past looks because there are no intended romantic or supposed intense feelings for the person. Once we get to know the person, we like their personality, their intelect and everything else about then and all that balls up into some sort of emotion towards that person that is equivalent to love.

Unconditional love, u see past ur friends appearance because u know them well, u see the kind of person they are and u accept them and they accept u. U have never had the need to feel sexually attractive to them so u are able to see what is within instead of concentrating on the superficial things.

Because he probably feels the same about you, and accepts you for who you are, no matter how ugly you might be to him.
It is good to have friends, be they ugly, stupid or whatever. If they have your back when you're in a pickle, what does it matter what they look like? :)

If you mean he is ugly in terms of character, perhaps it is because something in you complements his ugliness and makes it better so that it is not ugly.
