Lebanon just rejected a UN cease fire plan. Israel might not agree to it but what is Lebanon thinking? They have allowed Hizbullah to stay in thier country. Hizbullah is using the civilians of Lebanon as human shields while they stay far from the battlefront. Lebanon's problem shouldnt be with Israel. It should be with Hizbullah. For some reason, people are too blind to see this because you wont hear CNN report this. CNN and other BS media keeps focus on how many Lebanese civilians are being killed. They wont focus on Israels casualties or even the Israel has been being attacked for a long time now. It is about time they took action. And as far as Lebanon goes, how much are they really doing to protect its citizens if anything? It seems to me that they are allowing this to gain attention. Your thoughts?

Thanks RJmail thats some interesting info. Im rather surprised. I still think it Lebanon should do whatever it takes to get rid of Hizbullah. And to me cease fire wouldnt work anyways. It only gives time for Hizbullah to get more weapons. I just dont think they are doing all they can and are putting them blame elsewhere

I am just pointing to the constant highlights of "Lebanon getting pounded by Israel". Hizbullah is an evil organization. Remember the Marin barrocks bombings. Courtesy of Hizbullah. Any true allie of Iran and Syria is dangerous and up to no good. I feel for both sides as far as casualties. But say what you want about what Hizbullah provides. They are still something that needs to be dealt with and shut down. All they had to do from the start was return the Israel soldiers. But of course people are starting to forget all about that kidnapping

The NRA and Hizbullah are two completely different things. Use some common sense

It's not Lebanon that rejected the UN cease fire, it's that terrorist organization called Hezbollah. Hezbollah runs Lebanon, so they are going to say what ever is dictated to them by Hezbollah. You should be asking does Hezbollah care about the people of Lebanon and the destruction they have brought on those people. Hizbullah needs to be held accountable for what they have done to the people of Lebanon and stop pointing fingers at others, they did this.

Would the French resistance (this is an example - no anti french "surrender monkey" comments please) have accepted a ceasefire offered by Nazi Germany saying "the war was YOUR fault, you MADE us invade you. But we'll forgive you" - No, they wouldn't have. The draft ceasefire is completely toothless, it make out that Lebanon is completely to blame and is blatantly pro-Israeli. BUT it's better than nothing, and Lebanon will probably accept it eventually.

If Lebanon was a western country then we would be justified by asking why they let a terrorist organisation operate freely - because western governments are strong, and generally stand for tolerance. Lebanon however has a very weak government, and just about anything unless carefully planned could tear the country apart and launch a civil war again, like there was until recently. Many Lebanese see Israel as the source of all their problems, which is possibly unjustified - but dropping bombs and making everyone's life hell is not doing anything to get rid of this feeling. Lebanon isn't right in letting Hezbollah operate, but they don't really have a lot of choice. For instance many people hate the NRA for promoting violent gun culture in America, but you can't really do anything to stop them.

Hezbollah also provides hospitals, reconstruction, homes, jobs, schools, food. The Lebanese people aspire to be part of Hezbollah because they provide the defense that their army can't. And they don't use civilians as shields. I don't know where your getting that from. They are however standing up against something that threatens all of the Lebanese. Zionism. Hezbollah doesn't have high tech weaponry, they don't know where their rockets are landing. Israel does. And the media is all about Israel so where is this pro-Hezbollah in the media line coming from? that just doesn't make sense.

A lot of people from both sides are dying. It is sad and my seem useless but they are fighting for what they believe in. Watch some interviews with the Lebanese people. You will then see you made a mistake.

Lebanon didn't reject the resolution. First off, the resolution hasn't passed yet, so there's no resolution to reject. Secondly, since the resolution doesn't call for Israel to leave Lebanese territory even after there's been a cease fire, how could Lebanon support a resolution that may allow Israel to take Lebanese territory? Thirdly, the reason no one is focusing more on Israel's casualties is that their civilian casualties are less than 10% of Lebanon's civilian casualties. So they should get less than 10% the coverage, unless you are somehow arguing that an Israeli 3 yr old is somehow more valuable than a Lebanese three year old?

Actually the fact that the lebonese goverment contains many hezbollah elements, and that hezbollah has enough power in the country to hold the Lebonese goverment hostage, I heard on CNN. And now, the Lebonese government is proposing sending troops to make the border safe from hezbollah. Also heard on CNN.
