I am 37 and take home is $1800 a week after taxes. It is a little higher currently as I am deployed to Iraq. (Army)
Oh - and I retire in 4 years, I'll be 41 and will get paid about a $1000 a week for the rest of my life. (and full medical).
There are tons of different jobs in the army from basic cook to Doctor or Veterinarian. There is even Chaplains and lawyers - and the Army pays 100% college tuition!!!
It's not rich - but many people don't realize some of the good benefits!!!
