Most cars use a cable attached to a handle inside. if it is broken loose at the handle inside , sometime you can pull the cable with a pair of pliers.

car hoods should not be on a remote if so it is the first I have ever heard of. What kind of car is it.

you should have a lever on the left side of the drivers floor board or under the drivers dash.

does the remote work for the other functions if not change the battery.
