She sang it in such a way that it made me cry, just listening to it.
Then I found out that she commited suicide and this made me cry even more.
How is it that the same words can be sung and make you feel happy, then a different version can make you feel sad?
What is this power that music has over our emotions?

There are three women in my life who have sung this song. Judy garland, Eva cassidy and Aunty Peggy. Judy garland comitted suicide. Eva Cassidy died in a plane crash. Aunty Peggy is trying to kill me through over feeding.
A beautiful song.

Judy Garland

That is such a beautiful, expressive song that when it's sung right it can give anyone goosebumps.

I have to say, Katharine McPhee did a great job of singing it on American Idol. Not as amazing as Judy Garland, but still impressive.

Judy Garland is the person you are thinking of but the original was sung by Kate Smith in the early fifties.
