they are lost in there own culture and afraid of outsiders.
it would enrich your life to spend some time in another country
they need to love and care about you regardless
you do what you need to do to find happiness

I'm a 40 year old guy.
I would definitely listen to my kids (13 and 17) and let them know that I am going to take what they say into consideration, but that I'm going to have to make the decision ultimately because they will be out of the house before long. I think they'd be OK with that, we seem to have an open relationship and we're able to agree to disagree.
The rest of my family, mom and siblings, I trained long ago. I'll do things my way, thank you, and they can either be supportive or go to hell. I don't care either way. Take your pick.

First does your family think you're being this guy's ticket into America?. If they do, work on that. If they are just being non understanding let them rot. Who needs them. If you have children or will be then hopefully they will come to their senses for the children's sake, if not then they can go kiss their own a**. Not everybody sees two people in love most see color and that's highly unfortunate. Your family got to make their own choices as young adults now it's your turn. Go for it 1 million percent. Don't be persuaded otherwise.

Do they fear for your life or are they a bigot, or do they believe this guy isn't going to be nice to you? Ask the family member what the reason is and then talk it over so that you can dispell any myths or fears. Buenos suerte

Hmm... did you ever consider actually listening to them? They might actually have some very good reasons. You may be blind to some obvious, huge pitfalls. Marraige is tough even if everything goes well. Marriage across cultural, racial or religious boundaries carries incredible difficulties.
Perhaps they actually want you to be happy, and realize just how difficult your life is going to be if you make this choice.

Oh, love, you can tell them that IN our own country every second marriage ends in divorce, so, how does it matter anyway? Do they want to see you happy or themselves? Do they want you to live your live or they want to live your life for you? It is great that they are there for you, they can tell you what they think and express their concerns but ultimately if they love you they are there to support you in your decision, to share your happiness, to hold to when you cry, to lift you up when you fall and fail. To unconditionally love you.

Well, why are they not supportive, maybe they see something in him you dont.lots of men from other countries like to prey on women from the usa, just to get into the country
