because we had plans to make iraq a permanent military base ... think about it for a sec .... we could crush those backwards people in a matter of weeks and seal off the boarders if we wanted to ... the fact of the matter is a crisis is allowed to continue there until its accepted that we are there to stay. what makes me think that what im saying is true? because its all in black and white in a memo written by the PNAC called rebuilding americas defenses way BEFORE 911 .... and the people that wrote out this plan? just google it and look at the wickipedia writeup on the pnac and the memo .... take a good hard look at the members of the pnac .... most of the members were appointed to positions in the current administration. This plan outlines steps the US must take to counter the arising threat to americas existance by China. Fact: China will be fully capable to strike anywhere in the US with nukes by next year. Fact: China will have a fully functional and nuclear capable sub fleet by 2008. Fact: China want to assimilate taiwan whom we are sworn to protect and has been steadily building up militarily around it for several years ..... China is not a bs threat like terrorism or weapons of mass destruction its a very real threat to americas existance .... the plan of the pnac is to have military bases in the middle east and in the pacific to help deal with this threat in the future and secure americas superiority and survival. Why all the propaganda and deception? Americas public and the world would have never allowed us to do what we are doing if it wasnt for 911 and a fairy tale war on terrorism ... its not about oil or terrorism or weapons of mass destruction or a civil war in iraq its about being right on track with a plan to ensure americas survival against a percieved future annialation by china.

I assume you're talking about the U.S.-Iraq war.

The U.S. believed Saddam Hussein, the leader of Iraq, had chemical, biological, and maybe nuclear weapons, known as Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). President Bush also said that Iraq had helped al-Qaida to carry out the 9/11 attacks. The U.S.and United Kingdom invaded Iraq, demolished the Iraqi military, removed Saddam Hussein from power, but didn't find any WMDs. (Oops.)

Then, according to the "You broke it, you bought it" rule, it was now the responsibility of the U.S. and U.K. to establish a new government in Iraq that was stable, freely elected, and better than Saddam.

The elections were flawed, but generally went off OK. The newly elected Iraqi government said, "thanks U.S., you can go now," but the U.S. and U.K. armies didn't think it was time to leave yet. "Stay the course" said the president. So now, lots of people in Iraq hate the U.S. and U.K. forces for staying in Iraq after being asked to leave. Also, there are several different groups in Iraq who hate each other and are willing to start a civil war before letting the other groups share power.

And what's worse, although the Iraq / al-Qaida links Bush publicized in the gear-up to the war turned out to be nonexistent (double oops -- my bad), the war allowed a bad guy named al-Zarqawi to open up a local al-Qaida group. The U.S. killed al-Zarqawi recently, but al-Qaida still has a foothold in Iraq and is feeding off all the anti-American hatred being generated by the U.S. occupation.

Many people have said it's time to get out, but President Bush feels that the place still needs the U.S. and U.K. or it'll burst into flames the second the last American soldier leaves. Others argue that it's going to erupt into civil war any day now anyway, and the U.S. and U.K. soldiers who are there are going to get caught in the middle.

This stuff has been known for a while, even before the 2004 presidential elections, but the U.S. still re-elected President Bush over John Kerry. Go figure.

Because some very bad people bombed our country and we need to put some serious hurt on them and make them live like good boys and girls and TIME OUT just will not do it.
You like living here in your house in the USA don't you ?
Wearing that snappy tight outfit and carrying a gun around don't you?
Well if we let the bad people come over like that they will take it all away!

Some other people right here in the USA make up stories like JIMMY DID, remember when Jimmy said he KISSED you? and you said that was not true? YOU said he lied?
Well some people make up stories too about the bad people being good, but they have always been bad even when I was a LITTLE GIRL!
So do not listen to the naughty people telling lies!
Now, Now go to sleep, sweetie!
Sweet Dreams!

If you mean in Iraq, because we have made such a mess that if we just pull out, there will continue to be a full blown civil war and we will be blamed.

If we take a very dangerous place that is barely held together and we remove the one guy that actually held the tribes together, there is trouble and that's where we are.

We are still in war because some very bad men want to make more profit and control us.

Just like the bad guys on those cartoons, only they do it without telling everyone about it.

It's scary, but they are the same people we thought we could trust.

When terrorist are all distroyed then we can be at peace and not at war. As for the Bush comment it has nothing to do with any mistakes it has to do with taking hold of terrorist by the throat and squeezing the life out of them. It's too bad the presidents before him didnt have balls enough to do something about it.

Now that we've removed Sadam, we need to make sure the new government can survive. A weakened Sadam would have been our best hope to check the Shiite faction; but now that he is gone, we need to continue our presence until the new government can function.
