I just heard that an alaskin oil field is shutting down and could reduce barrles of oil to the US by like 400 000 barrels. Does this mean gas will be 4 to 5 dollars a gallon.

Perhaps not yet maybe 10 cents. The biggest reason gas is so high is that we do not have enough refineries to produce more. It is not because of an oil shortage. The environmentalist are blocking any new refineries and even if and when they will allow one to be built someone is going to complain because they don/t want one in their back yard. We are our own worst enemy we have not cut back on our driving habits one bit so why would anyone cut prices. It is not hurting enough evidently, or we would cut back on our driving. We still see only one person in a car that can accommodate many more. So it is our own fault not the oil companies or the government.

It's been shut down for however long due to corroded pipe lines. I'm under the impression it will be running again once they're replaced.
