There could be more oil than the entire middle east? Aren't you sick of gas prices? Then lets drill for oil in alaska!

They object to all forms of energy production. The extremists among them believe that 95% of the human race should be exterminated, (not THEM of course, I've seen no volunteers) and the remainder should live as humans lived 50,000 years ago.

ANWR, is about the same size as the state of Delaware. The legislation that created ANWR set aside ONE SECTION, an area about the size of a golf course, for oil exploration. It is that section that all the fighting is over. It's in the extreme north, and it is NOT the beautiful field of flowers with mountains in the background that you always see on the news. The section being fought over is as desolate as the moon.

Because the place they want to put oil drills is in a crucial national park. It's somewhere irreplacablle. People shouldn't be so dependent on cars anyway. They're one of the reasons Americans are among the most overweight people (on average) in the world.

Also, here are normal people who can't pay fifty bucks a tank for gas to power their cars (these would be small to mid sized vehicles, not gas guzzling SUVs or fake Hummers). It's all tied into the fact that there are too many lower wage paying jobs, which means people need to have more than one job to make a living wage.

Also, if you're sick of gas price maybe that means something other than "We need to have domestic drilling". Try giving up your car for a few months out of the year and using a bike or walking instead.

The reasons are multi-fold...

Firstly, try calling Environmentalists
"Environmentalists" instead of "Treehuggers"...
we like it better. ^_^

Anyway, the main reasons are
1) There are a lot of indangered species in
Alaska, nealry all of which drilling would negatively
impact (not the least of which are the Cariboo who
migrate through much of the Alaskan territory yearly).

2) In order to establish a consistant flow from Alaska
to the rest of North America, a lot of wildreness would
be distroyed t provide pipelines or roads...
or worse, they'd try to ship it by tanker, and oil spills
would likely go on the rise.

and then do some searches on the
"Arctic National Wildlife Refuge"

I actually think that we should just give up fossil fuels.
It is only greed which is stopping that from happening
right now.

Because drilling in Alaska will destroy ecosystems and that will damage everything else including humans. Ever heard of the web of life? Yeah well it isn't just something fruity some stoned hippies came up with. It means we are all living on a fragile thread that is connected to everything in the world. And once a thread breaks, it is a complete domino affect. Only there will be nothing to pick us all up. No, God will let us fall, because we let the Garden of Eden on Earth fall.

Come on morons think about it! Drilling in a pristine environment for a few years worth of oil isn't worth it! All this does is enable the gas guzzling crowd like buying alcohol for an alcoholic, another point is there needs to be oil in reserve so when there is a third world war we have a little bit to get buy on.

There is a long answer to this question and while some leftists will view it as propoganda or even blow it off as a conspiracy theory I can tell you exactly why tree huggers are against our drilling in Alaska.

The answer is dollars. First they hate capitalism and the fact American companies would do the drilling and make money from a natural resource. It just burns them up inside a "greedy" American corporation is going to take a natural resource and get rich from it. Second they want more money. Now don't get me wrong this is not the tree hugging liberal that wants the money - its their attorney. The tree hugging liberal donates $10 to a cause and that money goes to hire an attorney. That attorney wants the liberal organization (and him) to get a big fat pay off. They want those mean spirited ugly capitalist pigs to sit down at the table and buy them off big time. And until there is enough moeny in it for them - they will fight it tooth and nail.

Because they are ignorant. If they would find out the facts then maybe they'd be okay with it. We would be using a tiny part of a very large piece of land that would give us enough oil to last us many years and we would then not have to depend on the c--ksuckers in the middle east for it. If we could find alternative sources for fuel of course that would be great but I don't see that happening on a large scale anytime soon enough.

I'm not sick of gas prices!!! And I am not going to fall for any lying liberal media that gas is over priced.

With Exon Mobil stocks paying great dividends I say crank it up there is money to be made on oil.

Plus what difference does it make. I have a credit card that pays me 10% cash back on every gas purchase. I bought $100K in BP stock and got the complementary card.

Gas prices are for the blues to worry about.

Beacause the Middle East has very little natural beauty to destroy. Alaska is one of the last mostly unspoiled places on earth. If every protected natural spot on earth is destroyed to further our modern way of life, would life even still be worth living?

Probably because we have respect for the planet that God gave us. Oil pollutes and it is a NON-RENEWABLE Resource! We've had the technology for quite a while now to research Renewable Resources for energy purposes, but greed - as Christ so eloquently predicted - has continued to keep us on the wrong path.
