A gigabyte is another name for 1 billion bytes, or 1024 megabytes (it is easier to think of it as 1000).

In reference to memory, the more Gigabytes (GB) (Gigs) of RAM (Random Access Memory) that you have inside the computer, the faster your computer will run your programs.
The maximum capacity of RAM (max GBs) on the mobo+ fast 10,000 RPM HDD= one fast computer!

If you are using this for a camera thats about 400-500 pictures at 5.0 megapixel I believe.
