Do they keep their apartments like they do at home?
( you know///messy until they get around to cleaning it? lol)

It all depends on the person...if you're going to be having parties a lot, then your apt. will probably be kinda messy. You can decorate it, sure, just remember if you will be having a lot of people over, stuff will most likely get broken. As long as your roommate doesn't have a problem with what you do, do whatever you want! Good luck!

Some do. Some of the apartments I've seen are really messy. But some of them are so clean you can see your reflection on just about every surface! Mine is pretty clean, and I decorated it just like I like it. I love my apartment! lol

most of the college dorms and apartments that I have seen have been a collection of hand me down furniture and appliances from family members and garage sales. If you are sharing an apartment, the apartment has the personality and belongings of all of the people living in the apartment.
Since most college students are short on money, I don't think that anyone really goes all out with fancy decorating.
From personal experience, the girl's rooms are usually neater than the boy's

me and most my friends have posters and such all over the walls, and other cool odds and ends on tables and on top of the bookshelf and such. Probably more so than when I lived at home. I also clean up more now too. When it's your own stuff, its better to just clean it up. But I don't speak for the whole college community on that cleaning bit tho... ;)

Never. We just clean up once in a while for a party. Unless we have company coming (like our parents), we will clean.

My apartment is spotless and very adult looking. Why would you want it to look like a dorm room when you pay so much for it?

I assume that they do. All of my friends did and I did as well.
