Well,My grandma got me hooked on this show.The first season she showed it to me on television,then she stopped watching it and i watched it all through then the second season she picked up watching it again and we have watched it together ever since.
Anyway! your question well Kelly Clarkson was the first and she was hard to top i really like her music still.My above all favorite winner and season 5 contestant was Taylor Hicks.I have followed his music from way back and i really think he deserved to win.He isnt like any of the other previous winners and he didnt change he stayed who he was on the show where as many changed alot.He was still Taylor and still is,i really enjoy his music and i did on the show he was very entertaining every week consistantly and gradually got better.So,Taylor Hicks is my favorite winner of American Idol as well as Season 5 contestant.

It's a tie between Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. I really like both of them. Other favorites of mine were Bo Bice and Chris Daughtry.
