they gave him vicoden and told him to come back in 6 month's. I let him know that it is very addictive. He told me that he knew this. Doesn't the doctor's suppose to do something else, SURGERY MAYBE?

Yup, hip replacements last about 8-10 years. I wonder why the doc wants to put it off for 6 months?

Probably waiting as long as possible to replace it again. If the pain pills work then it's better to go with the pills for now because I'm pretty sure you can only have that operation twice. I got a new shoulder 8 years ago and I only get one more shot for it so I'm going to wait until the pain is unbearable even with pain pills. That's what I did for the first one.

I think you should get another opinion. Putting him on vicodin for that long could be dangerous. I think that they are trying to just temporarily get you a quick fix. Ask questions and demand some answers to a solution in fixing the problem. Not just a script. If your not satisfied then find someone who will give you the answers, it may take time but there are good dr.s out there.

Most people who have hip replacements die within a year. Maybe the doc knows he has other health conditions in which he wouldnt last that long. Sorry.
