i just want to make sure that it does not have any traces of what that person looked at on the web or anything. i bought it at a police auction and i am not sure what it was used for or who had it before me

All I can say is, if it were me, I would check out www.bizrate.com and get a new hard drive. If you got the PC at a good price, another $30-40 will be worth it to have a clean HD. Deleting files does not remove them from the HD. Anyone with more knowledge than I would be able to get at it.

Format the hard drive.. and put a new copy of your OS on it..
