Well that could be the toughest question I have ever thought about ! They say the universe is always expanding, so here is one for you , if it is expanding what the heck is beyond the universe? I'm not thinking about religious talk here, but if the universe is a vacuum of nothing, what is less than nothing. I've always wanted to chat with someone as curious as me about this. However we will never know the real answer ! The universe had to start sometime trillions of years ago, so what was there before that?? empty space? and what was that space made of !! Maybe we should just live in the now and go on a date ( yes I had to slip in a funny one )

The universe doesn't go on forever. We are an infinite universe in a finite area. We are like a balloon that can't pop. We keep growing and growing. We can keep growing forever and ever, meaning we are infinite, but we are always in a finite space.
No one knows what is beyond the universe. Most people think there are more universes, and that makes you wonder if we will ever collide with another, or if we are in different dimensions and can never physically collide. No one knows.

An answer to that question does not exist. What is said or written about Cosmology , Universe, Speed Limits are just, pure speculations,- in my opinion are forced ideas into our minds, in order to control us kind like the idea that only the people who don't have sex will live for ever and go to Heaven- there are no solid proofs of a Big Bang, or that the ultimate boundary is the speed of light not even that 300,000km per second it is the real speed. But the highest probabillity is that only a 3dimension Space exists therefore Universe is Unlimited and the intire idea of relativity and an enclosed Universe is TOTALLY 100% WRONG. Trust only your senses, and what is functionable. Only Engineering is a Real Science.
PS. Why the idea of relativity is so highly praised and backed is the answer to another question

This is something that I have been thinking about a lot lately and I am glad to see that others are thinking about it too. I guess it really can't be answered at this point, but the idea of forever or infinity it too much for me. Especially if you believe in life after death and that that goes on forever or for infinity or whatever. That is actually kind of scary since we cannot even conceive of forever. This means that I personally have trouble conceiving of God or whatever was there before space and time. Again, the thought of this is enough to drive me out of my mind.

Eternity signifies a certain kind of duration.
But duration regards existence rather than life.
Therefore the word "life" (as in - you cant go on forever) ought not to come into the definition of eternity; but rather the word "existence."
You and all you can experience are things to be measured by time.
Things which have a beginning and an end in time, because in everything you know there is a beginning, and there is an end.
The universe itself changes, and wont be forever.
God doesnt change.
Whatever is wholly immutable can have no succession, so it has no beginning, and no end.

The universe does go on forever, since it is the definition of place. Many scientists believe that the Universe is expanding (ie. galaxies are moving away from each other)... think of it like a balloon being blown up.
What is beyond the Universe? Nothing. Not a vacuum like space, litterally nothing at all. No matter, no energy, no space, no volume, no time, etc. Nada. Ziltch. Zero. :)

All current SCIENTIFIC research indicates that the universe will expand indefinitely (..go on forever). Seems impossible, but try to think about the surface of a perfect sphere (..think of the surface ONLY). Where does it end? What's beyond it?
If anyone tries to convince you that there's any "thing" or any "where" beyond our own universe they're just blowin' smoke because no one...repeat, NO ONE...knows.

What is beyond the universe is probably what was there before the universe began, before the big bang. Truth of the matter is we don' t know. We have very smart people trying to find out, but without observation, it is hard to tell what is possible from what is not.
Know what? Why don't you try helping find out? If you have an interest in science, if you can tutor a kid, perhaps one of them will become the world topmost scientist, will figure it out and will be able to tell us. I am curious as well.

Beyond comprehesion. There are more things in heaven and earth than we can comprehend. We think we know but we've only scratched the surface. Newton, one of the most brilliant minds of all times, said that he felt just like a little boy standing on the seashore before a sea of knowledge just examining some of the stones.

If you look at Einsteins theory, if you were to continue in a straight line for infinity eventually u would end up at the same point. His theory is that the universe is round and every expanding or imploding. Time and space is not linear by our conception or perception.
