Would we be facing a serious problem with the ice caps?

I've heard the arguments about how people centuries past depleted resources and hunted buffalo to almost extinction...I'm not going to argue that point because it doesn't apply.

It appears earth is slowly getting warmer due to modern man's activity, which consists of usage of petroleum based products.

So, as previous replies suggested that people agree, earth is getting warmer...I'm wondering if all the progress made in the last century of the Industrial Revolution is truly progress...or something else.

The latest reports suggest that nothing could be done to make the planet what it once was, we've gone beyond the point of no return.

300 maybe 400 more years...and the earth as we know it will be a gruesome sight and probably very unihabitable.

Gruesome for who? May I assume you mean humans? Uninhabitable? For who?

Where did you get the idea that humans have a God-given, exclusive right to be the dominant species on this planet? You say the earth will be a barren wasteland in 300 to 400 years. ?

Wrong!
Did the Yucatan meteor, an event far worse than anything humankind can perpetrate, obliterate life on this planet? No!

Species survived. True, it was a bad day for dinosaurs, but other species rose to the top.

By your logic, in several centuries it will be a bad day for humans too. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe the human race is a genetic dead end?

Y'see; mother nature is highly amoral. She sets forth rules, break those rules often enough and She kills you. No regret, no remorse, no mercy. You're dead.

Some other species becomes dominant.

MOTHER NATURE ALWAYS FINDS A WAY TO EVEN THE SCORE!!!

People have a tendency to overreact about certain subjects. Fear and emotion take the place of science and logic many times. You said that "The latest reports suggest that nothing could be done to make the planet what it once was, we've gone beyond the point of no return." I reply by saying what is their agenda? Who is funding them? Are they in bed with the environmentalists? Do they have a reason for a certain belief?

If you dig and find all these answers I feel that you will be unpleasantly surprised. Emotion is great, but not when you're trying to make a serious point that will have enormous consequences on the world.

Humans will always find a way. I don't believe that we are incapable of finding new ways to live, even if something happens to Earth. I am not a pessimist and do not buy into the theory that we are pawns of the oil cos. and are mind numbed robots.

All this environmentalism sounds eerily similar to some of the historical references to religious fanatics. It just makes me wonder. Maybe you should think about that?

To be honest with you, I really don't see the earth making it another 100 years much less 300 to 400 more years. Progress has always had it's price though, and if it hadn't progressed from the horse and buggy days we wouldn't have this technology we are using right now. If humans are to continue to progress, things will change, not always for the good of the people or the environment.

I think our world has been here done that. It is time to melt. It is time for the big shift, the pole shift . It has happened many times over the course of our mother earths life. She knows what she is doing, she is cleansing itself.
