I live in philly; it's a decent place with much to do and very easy to get around. General downsides include is the weather extremes (20s in the winter / 100s in the summer) and the huge emergence of condos in the downtown area, not to mention a starbucks on every corner.

Maine- southern Maine and on the coast. Beautiful! Great summers, winter is long and cold. Lots of outdoors things to do. Great place for all ages.
New Hampshire- about the same as maine, Pretty good shopping for outlet malls
Mass- all the northern new england states are pretty much the same, except maine has the most trees. Boston is a cool place to shop
Texas- HOT! HOT! HOT! Didn't like, but I was there for basic training and tech school, so I don't the best of memories when thinking of TX. San Antonio is pretty cool though.
Idaho- Too hot right now, but it's good for outdoorsy stuff.

Michigan. It's okay. The winters can be pretty bad and some of the people here aren't very nice. But it's home.
