Someone is wanting to steal my yahoo account. Does anyone know a way to stop them from doing so. They have takens others that I know of already. I have repeatedly changed my password hoping it will give me time. Reporting them will not do any good they can just get a new name if yahoo does anything at all. I have already done so anyways. Please serious answers only!!!

Are you getting notices that someone is requesting a password change on your account? It may be that they're confused and have forgotten their own user name.

I would stop changing your password before you forget it. Also, make sure that you are always logged off when not using a machine any longer. And keep looking out for those emails that may suggest that someone has been tampering with the password setting, but don't believe every such email you get. Some of them are a hoax. In fact, many such emails are a hoax. It's best to stick with your existing password (and make sure that it is a strong one that is hard to guess with lower case and upper case letters and some numbers in it).

Yahoo is a website. Yahoo is not responsible for your computers security. Obviously your computers security and your personal computer usage practices have more holes then a pound of Swiss Cheese.

Do you keep your Windows updated and update it again every month on the second Tuesday of each and every month?

Do you never ever open any e mails from any unknown sender.

Do you never ever click on any link in Instant Messenger?

Do you use a strong password of at least 8 characters using both upper and lower case letters with some numbers and punctuation marks mixed in?

Do you use a properly configured and updated firewall which you never ever disable even if a download or a game will not work?

Do you scan your computer for both viruses and spyware at least once a week using malware scanners that are updated daily?

Do you never enter any personal information, such as a password on any webpage or email link or IM link, unless you are absolutely sure that the page or link is the real one and not some sort of a phishing scheme?

Do you always clear you history and sign out of Yahoo after each and every use?

Do you never ever tell your password to anybody, even your "best friend"?

Do you scan every download from any P2P program such as Limewire for malware?

Start by going into your account settings and changing your zipcode to a number only you will know... think of it as a pin number. They have to guess this zip in order to change your password if they can't figure it out.

Also think about changing your Secret Question and Answer by emailing Account Security with your Current question and answer to my-login-request@yahoo-inc.com and they can change it to another one of your choosing, and make it HARD!

Hope all that helps you out.

Why don't you open a new Yahoo account, stop using the old one, then notify anyone who needs to know of the change. Someone, somewhere will always be trying to steal your information, that's why we have firewall and McAfee or Norton. Tell your friends to identify themselves in the subject line, and advise them if they don't, you will not be opening their mail.

Use a secure password:
> Use letters, numbers and punctuation marks
> Length of password: over 5 characters, preferably over 7
> Don't use your name, your dog's name, your D.O.B. etc
> Don't use any word in any dictionary
> Don't tell ANYONE your password and don't write it down

If you follow this you shouldn't need to worry :)

Could you further elaborate what you mean by "Someone is wanting to steal my yahoo account"? How do you know that they are attempting to "steal" your account?
