LOL! This reminds me when I was learning to play trombone in freshmen year of high school. The neighbors actually went and rented me a storage place to practice in. It's cool you are learning an instrument but remember your learning. Also drums are perhaps the loudest instrument to play. Typically you don't have to mic a drum set in order for it to be heard two blocks away. If you need to practice use a basement or a room in which sound has been deadend. The cheap way to do this is get a bunch of old matresses and cover your walls. This blocks the sound waves from reverberating throughout the neighborhood.

Well drums cause a lot of noise even through brick walls. Thats why it's good to make sure that you can find a time when the neighbors aren't home. Then you can really start pounding those things.

I'm sure it depends upon when you're doing it. If you don't play too late in the evening (say past 9:00 or 10:00 p.m.) I doubt they'd have a huge problem with it. But if you're playing past that time, you may be interfering with their rest. Also, if you play them constantly, it could be very annoying. I'm from a family of musicians and realize that you need to practice, but you also need to be considerate of your neighbors.

Just imagine you're sleeping or just in need of a few minutes of silence and peace; suddenly you wake up because of a loud noise.... Then you find out it comes from someone who's banging some drums right next door. I bet you'd be pretty angry, same thing if you play them.

the noise is a horrible invasion of their home. A drum goes right thru me and disturbes my nervous system till my whole body shakes and my heart goes out of rhythm. It is painfull and makes me angry and distressed to point of feeling like suicid,e if I cant get away. It is a cruel thing to do to people who are often not able to move and get away from you , I have left my home and stayed at a shelter to get away from that noise and the boom of a stero

Because they have to listen to you practice at all times of the day and night and on weekends when they are trying to rest or to find some peace and quiet. Try to practice at the same time every day for a specified time period. They will appreciate it and will be more accepting. Try it.

Chow!!

It's called "Disturbing the Peace." In some locales, it is a punishable misdemeanor. Especially after dark, when parents are trying to put their kids to bed.

Because the drummer is dummer. He or she is not smart enough to deaden the noise that the drum makes... The is no reason to annoy your neighbors with loudnoises.
