it sucks alot more getting rejected in front of a group than by a single person.

Because there is no more vicious thing on this earth than a group of teenage girls. You shred and kill anything in your grasp, including each other, at the first sign of weakness.
If you don't believe it, just listen to what they say about YOU when you aren't there!

Because they don't want to make a fool of themself in front of the girls.
Getting a girl to do/say something is much harder when she has the support of her friends behind her.
