replace the tile, if not an option, put a cross of masking tape where the hole is to be, stops bit running an stops tile cracking. use drill at slow speed

Use a ceramic drill bit, and let the bit do the work... do not "push" on it ... It's a bit slow, but it will drill the tile without cracking it. (use the slow speed to, to help reduce heat buildup)

Ive attached mirrors, safety bars etc, thru tile, and Ive never had any problem using ceramic drill bits. Just a cautionary note to those who may need to drill tiles in the shower.. coat the screws with caulk, before installing them, to help keep water from getting in behind the tile. ;)

Have Fun!

remove the tile, clean all old adhesive or mortar from it and the wall and re-attach the tile. After new adhesive or mortar sets, drill hole with a carbide tipped masonry bit. DO NOT USE A HAMMER DRILL ON TILE.

before you hang the mirror, fix the tile and secure it.after that use a quarter inch masonry drill bit and my hubby recommends using a hammer drill but can also use regular electric drill.
Good Luck!

we take a center punch to chip the glaze off. use a spray bottle of water and keep your bit wet when drilling. because its allready in bad shape, I personally wouldn't do this. Check your local home supply store for stick-on hangers.
