I had the same problem. I kept telling Dr.s that I was having heavy bleeding and severe pain. They just looked at me like I was stupid for years. Finally when one decided to send me for an ultrasound, they discovered that I had a Tumor in the lining of my uterous, and it had attached itself to my abdomin, so then every month when the lining sheds (your period) then it was also tearing this tumor and tearing away from my abdomin, that's why so much pain. They knew I was scared, and said they might as well take out my ovarys and cervix , too, because I "might" get Cancer in them some day,and have to have another operation. Then they put me on premarin,(hormone replacement) which causes cancer! How stupid is that? But for now, Midol, or Pamparin p.m., cuz they help you relax, and a heating pad or hot water bottle on your tummy, is about all you can do. Try to make her comfortable, and see if rubbing her tummy or back helps, it did for me. See a Dr. and if they don't listen, keep talking till they do! And if you have the problem, get all the fax, ask questions. Don't let them take out everything, because, (I dont take the premarin) I'm HOT, Miserable and moody all day, every day! I would rather be miserable one week a month compared to this! After all, if you go to the dentist with a cavity, he tries to save the tooth, not take it, AND the ones next to it because they "might" get a cavity some day!

Yes, a lot of bleeding can be normal. If it is normal for her. Pain is also normal. If it's so bad she can't move, then she should talk to her doctor. She could have some internal problems and need surgery.

How to help the pain. Between periods, do exercises where she pushes her stomach out and pulls it in. This works the uterus - which is a muscle so it doesn't get sore between cycles - that's what causes cramps. And when cramps hit, don't lie in bed. Go for a walk, keep moving. This at the very least gets your mind off it and it does work. Also, take ibuprofen or Midal.

Cramps are caused by hormones, the same ones that cause contractions to deliver a baby. Most people get relief from Ibuprofen, and some like to take Midol or Pamprin, which contain some other medicines too. It doesn't sound unnatural or concerning unless it's never happened before or it goes on for more than a week.

Just take Tylenol or Advil and use a heating pad. In the future she might want to try this. A week before her period starts take Advil. It should block most of the pain before it even starts.

Yes, having a heavy period is very natural.

Take some Advil and Tyelnol at the same time, use a heating pad, take a hot bath.

Try Paperin or another medication for those times women have their periods. Midol works well. IT will lessen the cramps and ease some of the other symptoms

You know that she should really get to her doctor and get properly checked out if bleeding heavily accompanied by severe cramps is not normal for her.
