when someone hits a century(100 runs) for the first time is called a maiden century.

its very simple
its just like the maiden over
a maiden over is one in whihc a batsman/batsmn fail(s) to score any runs....therefore reversing the formula....a maiden hundrd is a century scord by a batsman without facing any ball....hope its clear enuff now
