My husband is in the process of starting his own asbestos removal business. He's certified on all levels required. But how or where does he apply for his license. He also needs to find out where to study for the exam.

Call your local City Hall or Chamber of Commerce.

I gone through a similar process, but for Technical Consulting. He may also need a Business License.

You may have to check your state's website for information on Asbestos Abatement Examinations. If you are in California check this website:

since everyone else has answered where to get the license, I would strongly advise your husband to look into the insurance needs to run this type of business. From what I've seen it's fricken rediculous. Contractors claims in the asbestos feild are many many many.

They'll direct him towards the study material at city hall.

You apply for the license with the local government, city, county or state. Varies from state to state, area to area. When you determine what the governing body (municipality or county or state) is, you'll be able to find info on the test and probably sample tests, study guides, etc.

Good luck, that's a tough job but fills an important need. Be sure he gets all the right kinds of insurance and workman's compensation coverage before starting the business too!

He probably needs to be licensed by both the state and local authorities.

For the state contact the board of professional regulation. They have all of the necessary paperwork.

Contact your local authorities for their requirements. He will need proof of insurance and workman's compensation.
