why do white people try to be black like us?

It depends on their social economic position in society. Most white kids who jump on the gangster-rap or hip-hop band wagon ...want to make it on the street ... get a cool car ... lots of bitches without getting an education. The gangster rapper became an icon to many poor or lower middle class kids. Like disco ... the popularity has started to fade.

Same reason why black people wanna be white-I'm black and my white friends don't wanna be or act black-people adapt to their environment, but do tell me! How does one define what is WHITE and what is BLACK? Only then will you find the answer to your question- there are lower class white people, just as there are upper class blacks. Does it mean I'm acting white because I dress a certain way or drive a certain car?

Is a white person acting white because they wear baggy trousers, braid their hair or speak in slang?

I never try to be "black." I don't many people who do. Oh wait, there was one girl that I used to work with at McDonald's. But she grew up with black people, so I guess she wanted to belong. She was an exception though. Her entire trailor park friends were black, and her boyfriend was black. She got into the whole hip-hop thing. But I think it's mainly a comfort thing.
