I recently bought a computer that is largely for gaming, and I built my last several computers from parts. I had no limit on my budget.

This time I went with ABS Computer. I highly recommend them! You pay maybe $200 over parts, but they do a terrific job of putting the system together, installing all the software, and bundles some games in. Well worth the money, at least for me.

My system can run BF2 or Oblivion with everything maxed and it runs smooth as glass. I believe that total was about $2,000.

Make sure to get at least 2gb of RAM and SLI duel video cards!

Hi

I am looking at building a gaming machine for my 7 year old son. Because of the new 64-bit system PC's coming out, I have decided I will go off that design. My pc I built for myself is 64-bit and caters for general use, gaming, multimedia, programming, webdesign and cost me $2500 last year in NZ which is a cheap thing lol. His computer I am going to design will come off the Alienware machines specs which is similar to how I built my machine. Main components with his machine will be the Graphic Cards and Ram that will cost more than anything to handle his games.

Remco is right! As newer systems come out, they become less and less capable of playing the newer games, Ironic but true, most newer systems have onboard graphics which wont come close to what you need. You can build your own hot gamer for as little as 800 bucks! You need a video card with at least 256 megs of onboard ram, I personally would opt for 512. The card needs to have pixel shader architecture, this is the latest rage, you need a processor speed of at least 3 gigahertz, and a mobo with 1 gig of ram expandble to 3 gigs.

Buy the following at www.newegg.com

480 Watt ATX case and power supply $170
AMD FX-60 Processor $885
Asus A8n-SLI Deluxe $95
2GB PC-3200 DDR $160
BenQ DW1665 Optical (DVD-R) drive $45
Maxtor 250GB 7,200 RPM drive $70
Sound Card: Creative Labs X-FI Extreme $110
Video Card: GeForce 7950 GTX 1GB PCIExpress $550

Total Around $2,000

Then get a friend to build it for you. It will scream and you will be set for at least 2 years of top-notch gaming.
