Not a chance. Anything that empowers the individual or the States, vs the imperial Federal government, cannot be tolerated. They are being quiet right now because it has been a losing issue in the last several elections. But Schumer, Clinton, Feinstein, and Boxer are still against private ownership, despite the PROVEN reduction in crime in heavily armed states as opposed to states with strict controls.
The Dems are waiting for the UN to try to disarm us. FROM MY COLD DEAD FINGERS.

All parties focus on issue in which their voters would most likely agree with them on. Being as such Democrats focussed on gun control but didn't realize that most of their base had more pressing issues on their mind. Demonizing the right of any American to have a gun didn't play well with the people on the fence (especially in the south), and I'll admit I am a democrat and was taken aback by the assault on one of our rights. I don't think they have completely forgotten about it like the conservative republican hasn't forgotton about gay marriage but with all the more pressing issues right now it would be an afront to the average American to say this is what we are going to change about such and such and we will completely ignor things like the deficit and the war and border security, etc.

The right to keep and bear arms is a constitutional one. I think maybe they finally realized it is not the lawabiding majority who follow the rules causing the issues. It is the common street thug buying the gun illegaly. Would you persue more laws if you finally realized this.

I hope not.
And, I don't believe THIS issue is what costed them the majority in Congress. (I have never heard that either...)
If anything I think it was the family values issues that did...

The democrats never tried to confiscate legal guns.
"Gun control" is not code for "ban guns". "Gun control" means...well, controlling who has guns. Things like requiring registration of guns, background checks, etc.

Nope, but the mess in Iraq is certainly a more urgent problem they are focusing on right now. Violence begets violence. I hope bigot Republicans can remember that from their Bible study classes.

I think the Democratic party realizes that there are bigger issues that they can focus on.
