Why are so many people against divorce?

I am 100 percent for it! I don't see anything wrong with it. Why get marriage counseling when its not effective and you can be happy being single again?

I think people are going into marriage with the wrong mind frame. One should never enter than kind of commitment with the idea of..." Oh well if it doesnt work out we can just get a divorce." It has become too easy to throw the marriage away. People dont try to work at it. A good relationship is work sometimes.

Primarily people are against divorce because of the lasting effects it has on children and the entire family unit. But I say if you get married then you should try everything to make it work. The only exceptions to this rule (meaning immediate divorce) would be spousal abuse, drug abuse, being married to a criminal (pedophile, rapist, serial murderer) or to someone who cheats multiple times.

Marriage is totally based on commitment - a word younger people don't know the meaning of. Nor do they understand pride, respect, generosity, humility, courage, responsibility, preparedness, punctuality, or a few other pages full of ideal concepts that lead to a robust, secure, and mature society.

too many people use and abuse the word marriage! marriage is the one thing you should share with one person you truly love!not something you do next saturday because you have nothing to do!grow up and realize what the word marriage is and the bond that should be there when you do get married!

Well I no that when I took my vows it was for better or worse. My Ex just didn't feel the same I guess.
